How we seek strategic legal partners, not executors

The world is changing faster than laws are being written. Business models are updated every year, and technology creates new risks and new opportunities. At the same time, clients expect solutions that work today, not just formally comply with standards adopted ten years ago.

In this reality, a lawyer cannot remain merely an executor who “knows the articles” and “drafts documents.” A different role is needed a strategist, advisor, partner who can think critically, adapt quickly, and act proactively.

We are looking for just such people. And we have our own criteria for understanding that we are on the same wavelength.

How we determine the “depth” of thinking

Depth of thinking is not about complex words or a large amount of knowledge “in your head.” It is about the ability to:

  1. see the whole picture: understand not only the legal aspect, but also the business context, reputational risks, and the human factor;
  2. think several steps ahead: anticipate the consequences of decisions, even if they seem obvious and safe now;
  3. look for non-obvious connections: combine norms from different areas of law, international experience, logic, and intuition;
  4. ask the right questions: sometimes one accurate question is more valuable than a dozen ready-made answers.

In our work, we often encounter situations where the “letter of the law” does not provide a ready-made solution. The winner is not the one who is quicker to find the right article of the code, but the one who can see the non-standard path.

Our test tasks are about thinking, not copy-pasting

Most legal tests are memory tests. We take a different approach. Our tasks are mini-simulations of real cases:

  1. you receive incomplete information;
  2. you have limited time;
  3. there is often no “single correct” answer.

For example, we may give you a task involving an international agreement where some of the data is missing, or a conflict that goes beyond the scope of law, and see how you build your logic. We are interested not only in what you write in your answer, but also in how you arrive at it.

The lawyer of the future: what they will be like

We are confident that the legal profession is on the verge of transformation. In a few years, a significant part of “routine” work will be performed by algorithms and artificial intelligence. But there is something that a machine will never be able to automate — human thinking, intuition, and values.

In our opinion, the lawyer of the future is:

  1. a strategist who sees beyond the boundaries of a contract:
  2. a translator between law and business, able to explain complex issues in simple language;
  3. an innovator who is open to technology, new work formats, and non-standard approaches;
  4. a partner who builds relationships based on trust and honesty;
  5. a person with a strong ethical core who understands that not everything that is legal is right.

Why are we doing this?

We don’t want to hire people “for a project” or “for a task.” We want to build a team that thinks in the same direction and is capable of creating solutions that will work tomorrow. This means that we are willing to invest time in finding the right people, even if it takes longer. Because one strong like-minded partner is more valuable than three fast performers.
